Elaine has been writing and editing for over two decades; her favorite topic is automobiles. Although she started in academic publishing with Louisiana State and Cambridge Universities, she soon found a way to blend her interests in cars and the written word by writing about automotive brands for "The Licensing Book" in New York. She moved to California and adopted its car culture with the help of a Miata roadster, writing and editing for several manufacturers' publications, including Acura Style, Mazda Zoom-Zoom, and Hyundai Smart Driver. Her features and stories have covered auto maintenance and technology, car shopping and selling, road tripping, and food.


Elaine has a bachelor's in English from Reed College and a technical writing certificate from Louisiana State University.
